Henry Martin Dingus was born on 1 Jan 1841 in Russell Co VA, the 6th child of 9 children of William and Mary Green Dingus. He moved to Floyd County KY around 1861/62 where 3 brothers and 1 sister had moved earlier from Scott Co VA. to farm property that their father had purchased for them.
He enlisted 9 Aug 1862 in the 10th Union Cavalry Regiment, Company F which severed in Eastern KY during the Civil War. He went back to Russell Co VA and married Ellen Rosalie Moore 12 Feb 1867. He moved to Commanche TX in 1876.
He died 22 Nov 1898 and is burried in Taylor's Chapel Cemetery, Comanche Co. TX.
