Herbert W. Patrick, Sr., 86, of 125 Third Avenue, Orangeburg died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 2, 1929 in Bowman, SC; the son of the late John Forman Patrick and the late Rhodie Beulah Austin Patrick.

He was a member of Rivelon Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Mail Carrier for over 35 years; he worked at Barrett Oil Company for 5 years and at Woodrow Gray Dairy for 5 years and at the Bowman Cafe. He served in the National Guards 51st Quarter Master Co.; 51st Infantry Div. in Orangeburg, SC in 1958. He loved auctions and flea markets and he was a people person. He was preceded in death by a son; John Sanders Patrick; 4 sisters; Lee Wilgus; Dorothy Harley, Simmie McAlhaney, Lula Mae Spurrier; and one brother; Robert Patrick.

Survivors include his wife of 65 and a half years, Eva June Patrick of the home; son: Herbert Wesley Patrick, Jr. (Donald Johnson); daughters: Betty Jane Webb (John Wayne Phillips) and Dell Thornton; sisters: Georgia Lou Irick of Orangeburg, Johnnie Ruth Rawls (Jimmy) of Greenville, SC; brother: Jerry Patrick (Shirley) of Myrtle Beach; sister-in-law: Dot Patrick of Bowman; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence, 125 Third Avenue, Orangeburg and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Rivelon Baptist Church in Orangeburg with burial at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg with Rev. Larry Williams officiating directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg

Pallbearers will be Larry Jumper, Ralph Hughes, Phillip Cooper, Chance Spence, Jerry Patrick and Jimmy Wilgus. Honorary Pallbearers will be A. C. Webb, Michael Webb, Joshua Cooper, Ashton Patrick and Deacons of Rivelon Baptist Church.
