Four daughters: Gertrude, Leona, Edna and Isabella. His name was shown as Frederick on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. The 1880 census shows that Fred was employed at the Salt Works in Redondo Beach, California. The 1910 census shows that he was self employed. His father Henry Mellus was mayor of Los Angeles in 1860.
