Obituary, John Tammen, from Minonk, Illinois newspaper.

While staying with his sister Mrs. George Ioerger, and seemingly enjoying the best of health, Mr. John Tammen from Nebraska suddenly took sick with pneumonia April 14 and died April 24 1909. He was born December 13, 1849 and was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Tammen, the former, who as readers will remember met with an accident almost four years ago.
Mr. Tammen was married twice. His first marriage he entered with Miss Etja Davids in the year 1870 at Fahne, East Friesland Germany, the place where he was born. In 1875 they immigrated to this country, and lived in this community for a number of years. Then he moved to Nebraska where his first wife died about ten years ago. For the second time he was married Miss Gerosha Conglan (sic). It was only for a few years they lived together when his second wife also died. Of the fourteen children born to him, seven survive their father. One of them, a son, came here from Nebraska to attend the funeral of his father, who died at the age of 59 years, four months and ten days. The funeral service was held last Friday afternoon by Rev. Theo. Kettelhut at the home of Mrs. Geo. Ioerger. Interment was made at Baughmann's cemetery.
