MUNCIE--Victor R. Hayden, 79, 9500 N. Wheeling Ave., died Monday in Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Hayden moved to Muncie as a teenager and attended city schools. He was awarded a Presidential citation for service with the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He owned Premium Quality Service Inc. for 31 years.
He attended Northside Christian Church and was a former member of Wilmore United Methodist Church. He was a member of Muncie Lodge 433, F&AM, and several masonic groups. He also belonged to Odd Fellows Lodge, Albany, American Legion Post 19, and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a member of the board of directors of Very Happy Willing Workers Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hayden; two sons, Ed Hayden (wife: Julie) and Gene Hayden (wife: Karla); a brother, John Hayden; two sisters, Arvada Hoyle and Vivian Douthitt, and four grandchildren.
Three brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Meeks Mortuary. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum, where military rites will be conducted by veterans organizations of Delaware County. Calling will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where memorial services will be conducted by Muncie Lodge 433 at 7 p.m. and by Esther Shrine 14, White Shrine of Jerusalem, at 7:30 p.m.
