Carbet Nelson was born in Carter County, Tennessee to William Haskel "Will" Bice/Nelson and Cozy Jane Isaacs Nelson. His siblings were Florence, Bessie, Elsie, Harold, and Arthur Nelson.
The family moved to McDowell County, North Carolina, around 1928.
Carbet married Merle Mae Eller in McDowell County North Carolina, April 9, 1951.
Carbet and Merle had five children. The children were Michael Edwin (Merle's son), Johnnie Carroll, Laura Lynn, Patricia Joy, and Julie Renee Nelson.

Carbet Nelson
Carbet Nelson, 84, of 191 Ranger Drive, Marion, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006. A native of Carter County, Tenn., he was a son of the late William and Cozy Jane Isaacs Nelson.
A veteran serving in the U.S. Army, he was predeceased by a son, Johnnie Carroll Nelson (March 2006).
Surviving are his wife, Merle Eller Nelson; three daughters, Lynn Sisson of West Virginia, Patricia Nelson of Marion and Julie Watts of Asheville; a stepson, Michael Nelson of Hamlet; and five grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
Penland & Sons Funeral Home, Swannanoa, is caring for the Nelson family.
Burial: Carbet Nelson was to be cremated, as was told.
