Born April 8, 1927 in Carter County, TN, to the late Will and Cozy Isaacs Nelson.
She was retired from Marion Manufacturing Company and was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. "White Eye" Melton and two great grandsons, Daniel Thomas & Cody Yates.
Survivors include two sons: Jerry Nelson and wife, Barbara, and Ricky Melton, and wife, Sarah, of Marion; three daughters: Joyce Yates and husband, Gary, and Deborah Melton, all of Marion, and Shirley Nelson, of Boone; two sisters: Bessie Louise Horton and Florence Morgan, both of Marion; three brothers: Carbet, Harold and Arthur Nelson, all of Marion; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
The Rev. Eric Grindstaff officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park.
