Mr. Harold Nelson, age 76, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville.
Mr. Nelson was born in Roan Mountain, TN on September 13, 1929 and was a son of the late William Haskel "Will" Bice/Nelson and Cozy Jane Isaacs Nelson.
He retired from Henredon Furniture and later was employed by Blue Ridge Security.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran in addition to being a Merchant Marine Veteran.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Wilma Johnson Nelson and daughter, Robin Nelson Roland.
Surviving Mr. Nelson are four children: Donna Edwards, Sandra Brooks and Harold Eugene Nelson, all of Marion and Amy Bright of Charlotte; a sister, Bessie Horton of Marion; a brother, Carbet Nelson of Marion; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.
