Edward and Sophronia had six children: John Edward Cox, Nathaniel Brown Cox, twins Alvin Hall Cox & Alvery Wilmer Cox, George Loring Cox, and Abisha Hallowell Cox. Edward married (2nd) about 1882, Mary Elizabeth Preston. Edward and Mary had four children: Jesse Sewall Cox, Edward Colby Cox (aka Edward C. Cox Jr), Sophronia Ward Cox, and Bernard Lewis Cox Sr. Edward was buried in Lower Edmunds Cemetery (aka South Edmunds Cemetery) on Shore Road. Edward's home was on a hill overlooking the cemetery and Dennys Bay and Whiting Bay.
