Mrs. Elizabeth Chambers of 405 Maple avenue, Kingston, passed away at 4 yesterday morning after a twelve weeks' illness. Mrs. Chambers was born in Mahanoy City and came to Wilkes-Barre about thirty-eight years ago. Her husband, Robert Chambers, who preceded her in death twenty years ago, started a market in South Wilkes-Barre and carried on successfully until his death, when Mrs. Chambers moved to Kingston.
She was a typical mother, having devoted her life largely to her family and acquaintances. Her charming nature endeared her to all who knew her. She lived an exemplary life and her splendid devotion to her family and her sterling character made her highly esteemed by all who knew her.
She was kind and charitable, reserved and of a modest and genial disposition, and will be sadly mimed by her family and friends. Her loyalty to church was manifested by her presence and support. She was a member of First Reformed church, South Franklin street.
At the time of her death she was surrounded by all of her family.
Her survivors are a son, Robert Chambers, of Wilkes-Barre; two daughters, Mrs. Ellsworth Williams and Mrs. Harry Pethick, of Kingston; three brothers, Bernard Banks and Joseph Banks, of Wilkes-Barre; Dr. Henry W. Banks, of Norwood, Pa.; also one sister, Mrs. Fred Goeringer, and four grandchildren.
