Sarah (Sallie, after her mother and grandmother) was the first known daughter of Daniel Rumple and Sarah Jacoby. She was likely born in McGonigle in Hanover Township on her parents farm, where she grew up and no doubt helped to look after her numerous younger siblings.

After her mothers death in 1855, the family moved into Hamilton, where her father started up a hardware business in the Rumple building about 1857. By 1858 the family was living at their new brick residence on Ross Avenue, with Sally at the age of 27 still single and most likely attending to the care of the younger children and household.

Sarah married Aaron Trine in 1860, and between 1860-1870 had 4 children. The family must have been somewhat well off, for Aaron was instrumental in arranging for the removal of the Rumple family remains to the plot in Greenwood in 1867, and erecting a family grave marker, which still remains.

Aaron died in 1870 of a tumor, leaving Sarah with 4 young children. It is unknown how she supported the family, but she never remarried, and died of consumption just a week prior to her 60th birthday.
