Mrs. Rose Marie Ball Boyd, age 78, of Abingdon, Virginia, formerly of Wysor Valley, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (November 18, 2015) in an Abingdon, Virginia nursing facility. Born June 1, 1937 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jonah and Nora Pennion Ball. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Primitive Baptist faith and enjoyed singing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Madison Otey Boyd, Jr., an infant son, Keith Boyd, infant daughter, ,Sharon Lee Boyd and son, Jonathan Scotty Boyd; three brothers, Garland Ball, Herman Ball and Harold Ball; three sisters, Dorothy Meadows, Gay Brooks and Anna Ruth McGuire and one great-grandson.
Survivors include one daughter, Maretta Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, Adam Taylor, Chris Boyd, Tia Tucker, Daisy Boyd, Margaret Barton, Scotty Boyd, Jr. and LeAnn Roberts; one sister, Lola McBride; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ronnie Beavers, Rev. Gordon McBride and Elder Kelly McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in the Boyd Cemetery at Wysor Valley, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Trent Taylor, Cecil Peck, Chris Boyd and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home Saturday from 11 AM-1 PM.
