Mrs Emma Clifton

Mrs Emma Godfrey Clifton, 86, of 151 Windsor NW, died Friday at her residence. Mrs Clifton was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Henry Boyce and Sally Weatherford Godfrey. She owned and operated a clothing store and was a member of the St Paul's Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be Sunday, 3 pm at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Pierce Cook officiating. Internment will at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Basil Milhouse, Richard B Hewitt, Michael Russell, Clarence L Salley, Robert E Brickle and John W Lee.

Survivors include a son, James Samuel Clifton of Orangeburg; six daughters, Mrs Albert (Jessie)Lee of Orangeburg, Mrs John (Dorothy) Jackson, Mrs Mitchell (Henri) Griffin, Mrs. Grover (Kate) Grooms, all of Charleston, Mrs Donald (Mary) Williams and Mrs James (Elizabeth) Winter, both of Van Orin, Ill.; two sisters, Miss Minnie Godfrey North and Miss Julia Godfrey, both of Atlanta, Ga.; 30 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
