Violet Katherine Mott Bitzer 1940-2015
During the early morning hours of November 1, 2015 Violet "Nanny" Bitzer passed away at home after a brave battle with liver disease. Nanny was surrounded by many loved ones at the time of her passing including her husband of 56 years, Jimmy Bitzer. Violet was born in Selma, AL on October 22, 1940 and moved to Pensacola in 1952. She was preceded in death by her parents Lessie and Alpha Mott, a brother, Howard Mott, and a sister, Hazel Mott Huggins. Violet met Jimmy in Pensacola and married him on Christmas Day in 1959 and he remained at her side through her illness and at her death. She is survived by her husband Jimmy, sisters Thelma Bowdoin and Evelyn (Jack) Barrow, and brother James (Bonnie) Mott all of Pensacola, brothers Carl (Louise) Mott, Donald Mott, Judson (Alice) Mott, all of Selma, AL, and Lamar (Bonnie) Mott of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by her daughters Donna (Steve) Coffman, Regina (Paul) Kaufman, honorary daughters Wendy Utz and Lisa (Rick) Pierce. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brandon (Savanah) McCormick, Kelly (Trevor) Morris, Nicole McCormick, Rachel Kaufman and honorary grandchildren George Ross Williamson, and Sean Pierce. She leaves behind her "babies", her great grandchildren Avery Stanley, Sabrina Morris, Gage McCormick, Jimmy Stanley, Lily McCormick, and Rozalynne Mathis. Also surviving is her special niece, Marguerite Van Nostrand and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was "Nanny" to a multitude of children that she loved and cared for over the years. Her pallbearers will be Olen Stanley, Trevor Morris, Terry Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jason Mott, and Wade Mott. The viewing will be Wednesday evening, November 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Family Funeral & Cremation at 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola. The funeral will be on Thursday, November 5th at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am with interment following at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Flurry for his care and guidance over the years and also all of the members of Covenant Hospice for their care, concern, and hugs over the last few weeks.
