She was born near Hagerstown on November 19, 1921 to George Otis and R. Belle (Lilly) Retherford. During WW II she was employed at Perfect Circle. For more than 30 years, Annabell was employed by Second National Bank, in both Greens Fork and Hagerstown, eventually becoming Vice-President and Branch Manager. She was a member of Hagerstown First United Methodist Church and was active with their Women's Circle. She had also been active with Nettle Creek Senior Center. She was a member of the History Club and Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority.
Survivors include 2 children, Jerry Sue Rollins of Muncie and J. David Beard (Donna) of Cromwell; 3 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Beard in 1995 and siblings Garnet Sheibla, Louise Shook, Glenn Retherford, Kenneth Retherford, Gerald "Jack" Retherford and Paul Retherford.
Visitation will be 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, October 10, in Culberson Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 PM. Pastor Rodney Frieden and Rev. Sue Cartee will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hagerstown First United Methodist church Missionary fund or Nettle Creek Senior Center.
