Garnet was a resident of the Hagerstown community and retired from Tri-County Finance Co. She was a member of Farm Bureau, Home Economics Club, Women's Club. In 1927 she married Leonard Culy. He died in 1950 and is buried in West Lawn Cemetery. In 1957 she married Clarence Shiebla. He died in 1997. He was preceded by wives Helen and Garnet, and one step-grandson, Barry Culy. Garnet was survived by one son, Marvin Lee Culy, a step-son Harold Shiebla, two step-daughters, Carolyn Basford, Ruth Doerstler, two sisters, Wilma Louise Shook, Annabell Beard, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four brothers: Glenn Lucien, Gerald Everett "Jack", Kenneth George, Paul Charles Retherford, nieces and nephews.
