Raymond "Ray" Edward Denman, 85, of Hinesville, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, after a long illness at home with family by his side
Raymond, a native of Dalhart, Texas, lived in Liberty County since 1970 after moving from South Carolina. He was a 21-year veteran of the United States Navy who served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict before retiring. After retirement from the Navy, Raymond went to work as a civil servant and retired from there after 21 years of serving. He was an avid bowler and a member of First Baptist Church in Hinesville. Raymond will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Denman; son Jimmy Denman; and his second wife, Juanita Denman.
Survivors include daughter Hazel Young of Gum Branch; brother Kenneth Denman of Denmark, S.C.; sister Catherine Contley of Saluda, S.C.; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at First Baptist Church in Hinesville with the Revs. Roy Broughman and Steve Davis officiating. Burial will be after the service at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens with full military honors rendered.
Pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church.
The family has requested that remembrances be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 220 Memorial Drive, Hinesville, Georgia 31313.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
