Early Life: Gail was born to Joseph and Sarah May Curtis Thorson on August 14, 1934, one of twelve children; herself being a twin. She grew up in a family that, while there was not a lot of money or material possession, there was always love, laughter and loyalty.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Gail was a member of the LDS Church and had a strong testimony of her Savior and His atoning sacrifice. Gail loved many things; however, two things were her passion. The first was her son Mike, and the second was animals, particularly cats. She was compassionate toward others, and while she had a fiercely independent nature, she was always willing to stand up for the less fortunate, whether it was people or animals. She was proud of her heritage and loved to share stories of her past. Gail passed from this life the same way she lived it – on her own terms. Gail Thorson Kochevar passed away peacefully at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, on September 6, 2015. She was 81.
Survived By: Her son, Michael; one sister, Nona Baker; and three sisters-in-law: Mary Thorson, Renee Thorson, and June Thorson; a special friend, Laurel Ellison; Laurel’s two daughters, Ashley Ellison and Torrie Hurst; and numerous nieces and nephews who have cared for Gail and will miss her including: Leslie Pidgeon, April Lassen and Larry Thorson.
