St. Martinville -- Services for Mrs. Dennis Smith, Sr., 78, the former Eve Rose Marceaux, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Austin Leger officiating. Interment will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.
Visitation will continue until the time of services Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. rosary today at Evangeline Funeral Home which will remain open all night.
A native of Gueydan and a resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Smith died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday January 10, 2002 at her residence.
She is survived by six sons, Steven, Hallet, Harry, Dennis, George Smith and a step son Wilfred Marceaux (Ed. Note: Wilfred Marceaux was the son of Oura Marceaux, sister of Eve Rose Marceaux) all of St. Martinville. seven daughters, Leeverne Smith Crandel and Peggy Smith Broussard, both of New Iberia, and Lillian Smith Bonin, Eva Rose Smith Wiltz, Doris Smith Dore, Kathleen Smith Gardemal and Ethel Smith Sonnier, all of St. Martinville, two sisters Oura Marceaux Smith of Loreauville and Laura Marceaux Adams of Crowley; 57 Grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Smith, Sr. her parents Elie Marceaux and Maria Toupcheque Marceaux, her daughter Irene Smith Domingue and two sons Leonce Smith and Wilbert Smith.
Pallbearers will be Steven Smith, Jr., Leonce Smith, Jr., Dennis Smith, III and David Smith, Chuckie Smith and Harry Smith, Jr.
Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
