Bertha C. Carter, 66, of Star City, died November 20, 1999, at Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas. She was born October 29, 1933, at Havana. She was a member of the Crigler Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Charlotta Cherry and two brothers, Don Cherry and Phillip Cherry.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Carter of Star City; four sons, Willard Carter of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Leslie Carter and Mike Carter, both of Star City, and John Carter of Grady; three daughters, Martha Holloway of Pine Bluff, Mary Green of Union City, Tennessee, and Cathy Bates of Star City; five brothers, Bob Cherry and Harold Cherry, both of Waynesboro, Mississippi, Ed Cherry of McGehee, Ted Cherry of Laurel, Mississippi, and Bill Cherry of Fayetteville, North Carolina; four sisters, Dorothy Caletka of Victoria, Texas, Helen James of Bossier City, Louisiana, Ruby Weber of Holt, Missouri, and Eula Mae Noland of Kansas City, Missouri; three half brothers, Harry Cherry and Larry Cherry of Waynesboro, Mississippi, and Willie Edgar Cherry of Holtsfield, Mississippi; two half sisters, Lillian Louise of Buckatunna, Mississippi, and Mary, address unknown; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Griffin Funeral Home at Star City with the Rev. David Leopard and the Rev. J. C. Patterson officiating.

Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery near Star City by Griffin Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
