Clarence Eugene Allred passed away on August 22, 2015 at his home in East Millcreek from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside. Clarence was born January 7, 1924 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. He was the last child born of Byron Harvey Allred Jr. and Mary Evelyn Clark Allred.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the 4th Marine Division, defending his country in the Pacific Theater-including the bloody battle sites of Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa. He married the choice of his heart, Reta Maralyn Morrison on January 2, 1946; and their marriage was solemnized in 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She preceded him in death, December 15, 2013. They leave six children and spouses: Evan (Carol) Allred, Lt. Col. (ret.) Joseph (Kathy) Allred, Arnold (Gigi) Allred, Alma (Robyn) Allred, David (Julie) Allred, Lisa (Bill) Morey, 28 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and in the neighborhood of a thousand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers, and nine sisters.
Clarence was a skilled craftsman, employed throughout his life by Buehner Concrete Company, where he had the privilege of working in the construction and renovation of many of the LDS temples-a work that continued even past his normal retirement. From the time of his conversion, to the end of his life, he cherished a profound testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ, the restoration of the gospel, and service in God's kingdom that included several church callings, a mission in the Salt Lake Riverside Stake with his sweetheart, and many fulfilling years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12:00 pm at the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church and again Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the Veteran's Administration, the nurses and staff of Caregiver Support, and Dalton-Hoopes Mortuary.
