Melvin W. Nessinger SHORTSVILLE - Melvin W. Nessinger passed away on June 24, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Nessinger; two sons, Donald (Georgina) Nessinger and Thomas Nessinger; daughter, Mary Hager (Al Gulvin); two sisters, Laura Matzke and Kathryn Zastrow; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Nessinger; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Mel was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua. Mel was a member of Turner Schrader American Legion Post 34. Friends may call today (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sainsbury Funeral Home, 78 W. Main St., Shortsville. A funeral service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
