Rebecca grew up in Garrard County, Kentucky. The family lived north of Lancaster, on Sugar Creek, until about 1817, when Rebecca's father, Nathan, purchased land on Gilbert's Creek, south of Lancaster. This land was part of the land originally owned by Lewis Craig, of the Traveling Church.
Rebecca married Willis Walden on April 5, 1830 in Garrard County, Kentucky. Willis was born in 1805, the third child born to John and Elizabeth (Pitts) Walden. Willis, too, was raised in Garrard County. The Waldens also lived south of Lancaster, on the Crab Orchard Road (present-day State Highway 39). They literally lived just around the corner and down the road from the Douglasses. Rebecca's brother Samuel had married Willis' sister Sophia in 1821.
Willis and Rebecca began their married life in Garrard and Lincoln Counties. They moved to the Perryville area in Mercer, now Boyle County, in 1837. They settled on land Willis had purchased from Jesse L. Jackson, located on the Perryville-Lebanon road, just outside of town (the tollgate was at the corner of his property). There Willis and Rebecca raised their family. Rebecca's parents also moved to Perryville at this same time, and located on land adjacent to Willis and Rebecca.
Rebecca died in 1852. Willis remained on his land until 1862 - 1863. As was the case with many in and around Perryville, troops invaded, occupied, and fought on Willis' land during the Battle of Perryville, October 8, 1862.
Willis was a farmer. He and Rebecca were the parents of six children: Nathan D.; Eliza Ann; Ellen; John C.; Nacky; and Addison P. Walden.
Rebecca died from flux. She is buried next to her daughter Eliza, and her parents Nathan and Eleanor. Eliza died just four months after Rebecca, also from flux.
