Henry J. Abel, 69, 615 Johnson St., Rothschild, died Monday, July 14, 1986, at his home. He was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Rothschild, son of the late Leon and Angeline Abel. He married Marion Gehrman in Wausau, Dec. 2, 1950. She survives. Mr. Abel was a papermaker for Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. for 42 Years until retirement in 1978. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Rothschild, and he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors besides his wife include three sons, Leon and Bob, both of Rothschild, and James, Schofield; a daughter, Nancy, Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Richard, Schofield; three sisters, Rosemary Ruder, Worland, Wyoming, Joyce Higley, Oregon City, Oregon, and Beverly Yirkovsky, Mosiinee; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, William, died in 1958, and a sister, Leone Barter, died in 1981. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hayden Funeral Home, Schofield. The Rev. Allan Jenkins will Officiate, and burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
