Was Caretaker At Hospital 22 Years
The death of Jesse Lee, 79, for many years a resident of Greensburg, at Memorial hospital here at 1:30 p. m. Friday followed a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in impaired health for several years.
A native of Switzerland county, he was the son of William and Matilda Glenn Lee. He was born Sept. 2, 1880.
Coming to Greensburg with his parents as a small boy, he had thereafter lived in this community. In recent years he had made his home at 610 West North Street. For a number of years he had engaged in farming. For 22 years he was employed as caretaker at Memorial hospital here. Mr. Lee attended the Baptist Church.
His marriage to Grace Shaffer occurred in Greensburg on Oct. 27, 1902.
The survivors include: The widow, Mrs. Grace Lee, of Greensburg; four children, Hubert R Lee, John W. Lee, Mrs. Perry (Reba) Sneed and Mrs. Sheldon (Lois) Black, all of Greensburg and community; a sister, Mrs. Lulu E. McCormack, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, George H Lee, of Miami, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. They were: Frank Lee, Mort Lee, Clarence Lee, and Mrs. Belle Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday in Gilliland - Howe funeral home. The Rev. Stanley M Dodgson will officiate. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p. m. Saturday.
