DEATH CLAIMS JOHN W. LEE

Retired Greensburg Policeman Was 51

John W. Lee, 51, a resident of717 Park Road and a retired Greensburg policeman, died unexpectedly at his home at 11 a. m. Tuesday. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Born in Greensburg Feb. 21, 1919, he was the son of Jesse and Grace Shaffer Lee.

He was a member of the Greensburg Police Department for 17 years, retiring on a disability pension in 1968. He was employed at the Greensburg Auto Mart, Inc.

A veteran of World War II, serving with the U S Army in the European Theatre, he was a member of the Welsh - Crawley - Kramer American Legion Post of Greensburg, the Greensburg chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Batesville Eagles Lodge and the New Castle Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Greensburg First Baptist Church.

On Nov. 30, 1957, he was united in marriage to Helen Vinup, who survives.

Surviving with the widow are four sons, Randy Lee, at home, Jerry R Lee, Sarasota, Fla., Thomas M Lee, Greensburg, and Bill R. Lee, Batesville; a stepson, Douglas Einhaus, Batesville; a brother, Hubert R Lee, Greensburg; two sisters, Mrs. Perry (Reba) Sneed, Hartsville, and Mrs. Sheldon (Jessie) Black, R R 2, Greensburg; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert C Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Friday at Gilliland - Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
