She was the seventh of twelve children born to the late Leslie and Gereva Cole Shannon. She attended school in Philadelphia, Mississippi and confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Union Grove Church of Mississippi. Mrs. Bennie Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis Virgil Robertson, Sr. in January of 1949. She was one of the first members of True Love since it's beginning. She was a faithful member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the vice-president of the Mother's Board. She was always a comfort in time of need. Mrs. Bennie Lee Robinson Mack departed this life Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at 6:00 P.M. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Louis Virgil Robertson, Sr, two children, Deborah Robertson and Louis Virgil Robertson, Jr, four brothers, LeMar, Lee, Joseph and Blunt Shannon; three sisters, Girte Terrell, Nell McCabe, and Maggie Hull. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Catherine Smith and Pearl Miller, both of MS; one brother, Asa Shannon, of MS; seven children, Margaret Clan of Cahokia, IL, Vivian Lumpkin of Centreville, IL, Anthony Robertson of St. Louis, MO, Jacqueline Bridges of Centreville, IL, Dwight Robertson of Cahokia, IL, Angela Hawkins of Cahokia, IL, and Annette Baskins of Belleville, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; three godchildren, Lawrence and Debra Long of St. Louis, MO, and Bobby Hull of Kankakee, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, True Love family and friends; her dearest and closest friend and devoted cousin, Mary Silas of St. Louis, MO.
