James M. Boyles, 88, Passes Away At Home On North Mercer Street

James M Boyles, aged 88, veteran of the Civil war and one of the older and best known residents of this city died at his home, 25 1/2 North Mercer street, Saturday morning at an early hour, following an illness of complications.

Mr. Boyles was born in New Castle May 26. 1840, his parents being early pioneers of this city. He had lived here all his life, retiring from active work some years ago. During the Civil war he enlisted with the 100th Roundhead regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, and was in a number of important engagements while in the service.

He was a member oi the Central Presbyterian church Surviving him are three sons, E. Lee Boyles, Dr. H. D Boyles and H M. Boyles of this city. His wife Sarah E. McDowell Boyles to whom he was married October 7, 1869. preceded him in death in 1905, He also leaves two sisters, Mrs Lizzie Taylor of Oklahoma and Mrs. Sarah Taylor of this city, and one brother, William B Boyles of the East Brook road. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 17, at 2 30 p. m. from his late home with Dr. C. B. Wingerd officiating. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.
