Pat lived in Coldwater as a small child, and then moved with her family to Hutchinson, where she resided for most of her life. She graduated from St. Teresa’s High School, and worked at Jimmy Hayes Cleaners, the Kansas State Fair Lottery, and retired from Sears, after many years of service. Pat also belonged to the Women’s VFW.
On Oct. 5, 1943, she married Fred Cole in San Francisco, during his naval service in World War II. Pat returned home while Fred continued his service. He died Feb. 16, 2006, in Hutchinson, after 62 years of marriage.
Survivors include: daughters, Diana Lynn Cartwright and husband Tom of Edmond, Okla., and Michelle Lea Ratzloff of Hutchinson; a brother-in-law, Bruce Cole of Hutchinson; two sisters-in-law, Christina Puckett of Wichita and Dorothy Graddick of Nevada; six grandchildren, Steven Cartwright of Texas, Jason Cartwright and wife Caitlin of California, Chris Ratzloff and wife Teresa, Nicole Lehr and husband Josh, Shaun Ratzloff and wife Jessika, Kevin Ratzloff, all of Hutchinson; 14 great-grandchildren; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by: her parents; stepmother, Martha “Friedel” Kahler; four sisters, Gertrude and husband Alfred Shipley, Helen “Dolly” Cole, Christina and husband Orval “Jack” Parks, and Alta and husband Clyde Prevo; a baby niece, Shirley Shipley; two nephews, Jack Parks and Ronald Shipley.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Darrel Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary.
As Pat was a breast cancer survivor, memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
