Obituary
Charles B. Watters
After a long illness, of a complication of diseases, Charles Bruce Watters died at 7 o’clock Saturday evening, at his home on North Fourth street, Bellwood. For about a year he had been a sufferer, but always hopeful and fighting bravely against the inroads of diseases. A few weeks ago he was taken to a Philadelphia hospital but was brought home to die, the last ray of hope having vanished. He was a son of John G. (deceased) and Margaret Watters and was born, December 1, 1875, on the farm near Bellwood now know as the Wentzel farm. All his life was spent in this vicinity. He was united in marriage March 9, 1910, to Miss Effie McGinnis, at Emlenton, Venango county, by Rev. Craig Long, pastor of the Reformed church. For fourteen years he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company in various capacities. At the time he was taken ill he was working in the air brake department of the Altoona machine shop, under Foreman S.J. Reagan. In his early boyhood he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and in that faith he lived and died, leaving to his friends the priceless comfort that he was ready for the great change. His patience in suffering was a characteristic of his Christian life and his devotion to the loved ones of his home will always be to them a precious memory. His passing in the very prime of young manhood in deeply mourned by those who have known him from childhood and by his large circle of friends in railroad employ and fellow lodge members. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias, to the Improved Order of Red Men, to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and to the Pennsylvania Railroad relief. Surviving him are his wife, his aged mother and these brothers and sisters: William H. and Jerry C., of Altoona; I. Moreland and Norris T., of Bellwood; Misses Rosa and Tillie, at home. The funeral service will be held at his late home, on Tuesday afternoon, at 2:30 o’clock. Interment in Logan Valley cemetery.
