James W. "Jim" Jacobs, 61, former Ellis County resident, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Kay Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. He was born Jan. 30, 1946, in Victoria to Joseph P. and Anna P. (Wasinger) Jacobs.

Prior to becoming disabled from injuries sustained in an automobile accident and complications of diabetes he worked in the oil field on the pulling units.

Survivors include a son, James Jacobs Jr. and wife, Shannon, Medicine Lodge; a daughter, Jeanette Hobrock and husband, Roger, Jinx, Okla.; three brothers, Joe Jacobs, Dodge City, and John Jacobs and Bert Jacobs, both of Hays; six sisters, Gerry Fielder, McPherson, Carol Dreher, Plainville, Betty Axelson and Delores Ice, both of Stockton; and his twin sisters, Janice Fetterolf, Hays, and Shirley Terry, Oklahoma City; and two grandsons, James Cope and Jacob Hobrock.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Jacobs, and two sisters, Norma Jean Starforth and Mary Ann Martin.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday, both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Kay Pogue Hospice Center, Salina, or American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
