Irvin E. Rude
NAPA - Irvin E. Rude, 84, of Napa died at home Sunday after a long illness.
A native of Goldendale, Wash., he moved to Vallejo in 1914. After completing his education there, he joined the U.S. Army in 1916.
He was discharged in 1919 and moved to Visalia, where he worked for Wood and Deakins Furniture Store for several years. He later moved to San Francisco, where he was employed in the linoleum and carpet-laying trades. He came to Napa in 1956. At the time of his retirement in 1969, he was employed by A.G.E.
While in military service, he served on the Mexican border.
He was a member of Silverado Lodge No. 782, F&AM; the United States Veterans of World War I; the Richmond Post, American Legion; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, William Cavagnaro Post No. 9300.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Elizabeth RILEY of Santa Barbara; a son, Dr. Eugene RUDE of South Nyack, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Henry, pastor of Berean Baptist Church of Fairfield, officiating. The Silverado Lodge and the Veterans of World War I will take part in the service. Inurnment will be in Tulocay Crematorium in Napa.
