Laura Isabelle Rude was the 5th of 14 children of pioneers Francis Marion Rude and Alice Winifred Snodderly who settled in Goldendale, Washington in 1884. She married Harold Armour Parson on 18 Nov 1906 at the Woodland Church in Goldendale where her father had previously served as minister.

Their oldest daughter Florence was born in Goldendale, Washington. Laura and Harold settled in Pickardville, Alberta, Canada, by 1909 where their children Harold, Eva, Edith, Marjorie and Dorothy were born. Laura eventually settled in Vallejo, California, to be near her daughters, sisters and brothers who had settled there.

She and her sister Irma Jeffery were both killed when they walked into the path of a pickup truck on their way to church services in Vallejo.
