It is believed, from obituary and other data available, that Juliane is buried at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan. Sometime in 2020 her grave was verified at Oakview.

Julie's family reports that her birth certificate states her place of birth as "Sandwich Isle, Hawaii". Sandwich Isle was the name of the Hawaiian Islands before they became a territory of the United States.

Julie's birth record, from the State of Hawaii names her father as Carl Herman, mother Charlotte, both parents are identified as "German" and she is registered as a "unnamed female".

Julie was baptized by Pastor Hans Isenberg, her baptismal sponsors were Dorothea Eggerking, Wilhelm Koch and Johann Meyer.

Julie was confirmed on April 12, 1914 by Pastor August Deichmann of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pigeon/Linkville, Huron County, Michigan. A loose translation, from the original German:

"On the 12 of April 1914 the following children were confirmed: Juliane Dora Wilhelmine Johanne Gehrke, daughter of Carl Gehrke and his wife Charlotte, nee Grundemann, born on the 16th of December 1900 in Lihue, Hawaiian Islands and baptized on the 3rd of February 1901."

Julia's obituary appeared in the March 13, 1958 issue of the Daily Monitor-Leader, Mt. Clemens, Macomb County, Michigan:

"Julia D. French

FRASER -- Mrs. July D. French, 57, 35922 Moravian drive, died Wednesday night in her home from a cancer condition which she had suffered the last two years.

Born in the Hawaiian Islands on Dec. 16, 1900, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerke.

Mrs. French is survived by her husband, Gerald, six daughters and a son. They are: Miss Geraldine French, at home; Mrs. Steve (Laura) Jenick, Oak Park; Mrs. Dominic (Florence) Bianco, East Detroit; Mrs. Esther Stephenson, Detroit; Mrs. Robert (Julia) Schulz and Mrs. Raymone (Leone) LaRoche, both of Troy; and William French, at home.

Other survivors are three brothers, Charles and John Gerke, both of Hazel Park, and Fred Gerke, Lincoln Park. Mrs. French also leaves seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Hedwicke Brown, living in Hawaii.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gramer Funeral Home, 705. N. Main, Clawson. The Rev. E. C. Weber, pastor of St. Johns Lutheran Church of which she was a member, will officiate.

Burial will be in Oakview cemetery in Clawson."
