The first documentation we have for Carl gives his name with the common German spelling of Karl.
"Karl" and his family arrived in Hawaii on November 2, 1888 aboard the J.C. Pfluger. At that time his family consisted of his wife, Charlotte and two acknowledged children, Fred and Hedwig.
Some time after arriving in Hawaii all further documentation shows his given name spelled Carl.
"Carl" worked on the sugar plantations until 1904 when he and the much larger family moved to Oakland, Alameda County, California where they stayed until about 1910 or 1911.
They then moved to Huron County, Michigan and from there to Clare County Michigan, where "Carl" died.
Carl's modern marker was installed by family in the fall of 2014.
