Charlotte traveled with her husband and family from Hammerstein, West Prussia, Germany (now Czarne Poland) to Lihue Kauai Hawaii in 1888. In 1904 the family moved to Alemada County California. By 1910 or 1911 the entire family (except for the eldest daughter) had moved to Huron County Michigan. They moved around Michigan a bit, to Clare County and eventually to Wayne County where she died.
Census records from 1900 state that she had 11 children and 7 were surviving, and the 1910 census states that she had 13 children, 8 of who were alive. This would indicate that we are missing some children.
