Alvin C Dobson, 68, of 205 North Main Street, Died at 2:50 am Tuesday in the Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Dobson was a member of Memorial Methodist Church and the Official Board of the church . He was a former member of Zoar Methodist Church where he was a teacher and Sunday School superintendent for a number of years.
He had lived in Greer for the past 47 years where he was a member of the Oak Forest Camp No 67, Woodmen of the World and had served as road commissioner for Beech Springs Township and Spartanburg County magistrate.
He had formerly been in grocery business but now owned and operated Dobson service station located on East Poinsett at the current location (2016) of the entrance to Greer City Park.
He is survived by his widow Irene Bailey Dobson, two daughters Mrs. George Tuck of Greer and Mrs John Rainey of Columbis. ;three sons, William R, Charles and Broadus Bailey Dobson of Greer; four brothers, R.A., J.M., and B.G. Dobson all of Fairforest and W.G. Dobson of Spartanburg and 13 grandchildren at the time of his death. Active pallbearers were Woodrow, W.J., Holbert and Bob Bailey, Jerry Tuck and Tommy Dobson.
