Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Mausoleum in Cankton. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Debbie Richard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Be Not Afraid, The Old Rugged Cross, and Notre Pere.
Mr. Menard was a share cropper for many years and later owned and operated Menard's Grocery and Restaurant. Mr. Menard was also a bus driver for St. Landry Parish School Board for twenty seven years. He was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton. Mr. Menard loved any and all animals and enjoyed family gatherings and holidays.
Survivors include his wife of seventy-three and a half years, Philonese Cormier Menard of Cankton; one son, Scurdy Menard of Cankton; five grandchildren, Chad Menard and his wife, Amy, Shane Menard and his wife, Renee, Kimberly LaGrange and her husband, Jimmy, Joey Menard and his wife, Tammy, and Marshall Menard; twelve great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ovide Menard and the former Theresa Dugas, both native of Cankton; one son, Carroll Menard; five brothers, Leon Menard, Dorville Menard, Freddie Menard, Joseph Henry Menard and Leonard Menard; two sisters, Noella Leger and Angela Lavergne; and one daughter-in-law, Carole Ann Menard.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Chad Menard, Shane Menard, Drake Menard, Marshall Menard, Joey Menard and Wilton Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be Nolton Menard, Matthew Menard, Mitchell LaGrange and Jimmy LaGrange.
