He was born in Lawrence County, MS in 1819. His parents were Shadrach King Sr. and Belinda McGehee King. He was one of four children in the family.

Addison's ancestry can be traced back to William I the Lion, King of Scotland per "Royal Descendant of 600 Immigrants" through his grandmother, Dorothy Waller, wife of Carr McGehee.

On 24 Oct 1840 he married Eleanor M Estelle in Carroll County, MS. They had nine children: Charles, F. M., Addison Jr., Hilary(male), Thomas, Eleanor, Allis, Bell and Mary.

Family legend has it that Dr King's medicine contributed to the first Coca-Cola recipe. See photo attached.

He was a physician and a farmer.

During his lifetime he experienced the Monroe Doctrine, Battle of the Alamo, Mexican American War, Civil War, invention of the telephone and invention of the electric light bulb.
