Stanley H. Alexander
Stanley H. Alexander. 87, of 11525 Englewood Road, Hagerstown, died Friday. May 29, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Gilmore, Md., he was the son of the late Thomas S. and Amy E. Mansfield Alexander.

He was a graduate of Frostburg Alexander State College with a degree in mine engineering.

He was a miner. He was also a lumberman, and a constable for the state's attorney in Allegany County. He was employed at the Maryland State Reformatory for Males as an identification expert for 16 years and transferred to the Department of Natural Resources for the State of Maryland., where he served as a district game warden and later as a wildlife manager covering Frederick, Washington, Allegany and Garrett counties until his retirement in 1974.

He was recently honored by the State of Maryland by having the Indian Spring Work Center named in his honor - the Stanley H. Alexander Work Center.

He was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church for 42 years, where he served on the administrative board and was an honorary member. He was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of the Sunday schools and adult division. He was past president of the Methodist Men; chairman of the Property Committee; served as an usher and was a licensed lay minister. He was active in lay witnessing for over 10 years. He was an assistant girl scout leader of the church.

He was a member of MCEA No. 152 of the State and Moose Lodge 212.

He was a member of the American Red Cross for 60 years, serving as a first aid instructor and later as a CPR instructor. He received the highest honor - the Beulah Myers Award.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. Kline Alexander; one daughter, Arlene F. Jamison of Hustontown, Pa. ; three sons, Thomas S. Alexander of Hagerstown, Stanley D. Alexander of Oxon Hill. Md., and Neil W. Alexander of Minnesota; three sisters, Nettie Henry of Loarstown, Md., Ellen Abbott of Cumberland, Md., and Mary Grady of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Theodore Alexander of Rawlings, Md., and Marcellus Alexander of Chaneysville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Dr. Raymond Moreland and the Rev. Edward R. Voorbaar will officiate.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St.
