Born in Burke County, N.C., October 24, 1875, as their youngest child, Laura Emma Sparks Barber, was the daughter of William "Bill" M. Sparks and Nancy Virginia "Jennie" McCall Sparks.

Laura Emma Sparks married Lonnie Graham Barber, son of Jacob Keller Barber and Martha Jane Branch Barber, on June 24, 1899, Smokey Creek, Burke County, N.C.
Laura and Lonnie, had seven children, and also, may had two other children that died as infants. The children were:
1- Ernest Lee Barber
2- Ellis Graham Barber
3- Lula Ray Barber Cannon
4- Fred Wilson Barber
5- Melvin Reid Barber
6- Leroy (or "Lee" Roy) Barber
7- Margie Helen Barber Denny
Lonnie Graham Barber, her husband, died from injuries he received to the head, at the age, of only 56 years old. Laura Emma Sparks Barber, never remarried.
On January 2, 1960, Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina, Laura Emma Sparks Barber, a widow, died at the age of 84.
Laura Emma Sparks Barber and Lonnie Graham Barber were my Paternal Grandparents.
