Ernest Lee Barber

Ernest Lee Barber was the first living child of seven children born to Lonnie Graham Barber and Laura Emma Jane Sparks Barber. Laura had a total of nine children. The other living children were Ellis Graham, Lula Rae, Fred Wilson, Melvin Reid, Lee Roy, and Margie Helen Barber.

Ernest married Annie Gertrude "Gertie" Berry Barber October 15, 1921 in Burke County. "Gertie" was the daughter of Raymond and Sallie Berry of Connelly Springs, Burke Co., N.C.

Ernest and Gertie had five children, Criselda Mae b Aug. 21, 1927, Charlene Helen b. Dec. 6, 1924, Hilda b. Aug. 13, 1922, Gary Lee b. Jan. 28, 1939, and a Baby Boy that died, L.G. Barber.

Daughter: Charlene Helen Barber Hicks

Also, they adopted and raised a Grandaughter, Arlene.

Ernest worked many years for Drexel Furniture before his retirement from the company.
