Warren Vern Bottorff, 82, of Sigourney, formerly of Ollie and Packwood area, died March 29, 2004, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.
He was born June 9, 1921 to Emanuel Henry and Orpha E. Hayes Bottorff at Macon, Missouri. At the age of 5, Warren and his family moved north of Martinsburg where he was raised. He attended the Martinsburg High School. After high school he was employed at a factory in Moline, Illinois. On August 31st, 1940 he was united in marriage to Lucille Hollingsworth at the Methodist Parsonage in Memphis, Missouri.
Warren and Lucille farmed for the next 50 years in the Hedrick, Agency, Ollie, and Packwood areas. In 1986 they retired from farming and moved to Sigourney, Iowa.
Warren's hobbies included visiting, telling stories, spending time with his family, machine quilting over 2,000 quilts, and going to the coffee shop in Sigourney. He was a member of the Martinsburg United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bottorff's memory is honored by his wife, Lucille Bottorff of Sigourney, a son, Carroll and his wife Holly Bottorff of Medford, Or., two daughters, Judy Kellum and her husband Randy of Branson, Mo., and Dixie Singleton and her husband Loyed of Russell, Ia.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Bottorff, and four brothers, Ralph, Robert, Claude, and Harry Bottorff.
Services were at Fremont Funeral Chapel with interment at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, north of Martinsburg.
A memorial has been established in Mr. Bottorff's name.
