Catherine M. Landis, age 86 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at her residence. She was born on September 13, 1928 in Muncie to the late Ray B. and Pearl Landers Alberson. Catherine was a 1946 graduate of Cowan High School and later attended Indiana Northern College and Marion College, now IWU. On January 25, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert, in Muncie. Robert preceded her in death on November 8, 2008. Catherine retired from Anaconda in May 1992 after thirty-one years and nine months of service. She was a member of College Wesleyan Church. Catherine was always active and never like to just sit around. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to bowl and be a member of various bowling leagues. Until recently, she was a volunteer at the IWU Post Office and Colonial Oaks Health & Rehab Center.

Catherine is survived by two children, Carolyn Ann Johnson, of Marion, and Steve R. (Jane) Landis, of Summitville; two sisters, Wenda Albright, of Glen Allen, Va., and Bonnie Whitted, of Greenville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Jones, Stacy (George) Knight, Caleb Landis, and Jacob Landis; five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Daniel Crago, Brentley, Cedric and, Chandler Warren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, William, Eugene, Don and, Glen Alberson; four sisters, Delores Alberson, Thaddora (Dot) Davis, Mary Dick and, Vivian Lofton; son-in-law, Robert Johnson.

Arrangements are being entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Ind. 46953. Family and friends may visit on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the College Park Chapel. A funeral service to honor Catherine’s life is being on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the College Park Chapel, with Pastor Judy Crossman officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Muncie.
