Darlene was the daughter of the late Henry and Ocie Belle Davis Proffitt. She was a member of Freedom Ministries. She was preceded in death by one son, Carl Andrew Ball; two brothers: Chester Proffitt and Brady Proffitt. Survivors are her husband Carl Hassell Ball, daughter, Cheryl Bishop and husband Robert of Cedar Bluff; sisters Ruth James and husband Emory of Davenport, Beatrice Gilbert and husband Henry of Claypool Hill, Georgia Brown of Keen Mountain, Jean Dye of Doran; brothers Melvin Proffitt and wife Pauline of Short Gap, Charlie Proffitt of Red Ash, Hubert Proffitt of Whitewood; grandchildren: Dustin Carty, Tristan Carty, Alex Ball, and Evan Ball.
