Florence Rachel Byers, 94, Bedford, died Wednesday at her residence.

Born Aug. 12, 1920, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Charles and Nancy (Frazier) Evans. She married Carl Byers on March 29, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2013.

She retired from NWSC Crane and had worked at JC Penney.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield and attended the First Baptist Church in Bedford.

Survivors include three daughters, Becky Schick and husband William of Bloomington, Sally Dyke and husband Daniel of Bedford and Beth Maass of Columbus; grandchildren, Jennifer Abrams and husband Malcolm, John Schick and wife Brenda, Carla Schick, Jessica Mackey and husband Craig, Jason Dyke, Rachel O’Haver and husband Tyson and Stephen Maass; a son-in-law, Mark Mullins of Bloomfield; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Deborah Byers; four brothers, Noah, Morris, Wilbur and Charles Evans; and three sisters, Nova Allen, Alma Ashley and June Underwood.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
