Alma M. Ashley, 91, of Bedford, died at 2:20 am on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at IU Health Medical Center in Bedford.

Born May 12, 1922 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Charles Evans and Nancy Ann (Frazier.) She married Charles B. Ashley on July 21, 1941 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1992. She was a member of the Gulletts Creek Baptist Church and a former Volunteer at IU Health Bedford. She was a homemaker and was retired from M. Fines in Bedford.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Stevens of Bloomington, Janice Martz and husband, Wade of Ellettsville, and Jo Ellen Fitzgerald and husband, Victor of French Lick; one son, Greg Ashley and wife, Nancy of Bedford; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Underwood of Bedford and Florence Byers of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; one sister, Nova Allen; and four brothers, Noah Evans, Wilbur Evans, Morris Evans, and Charles Evans in infancy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford with Pastor Billy Brim and Pastor Max Abel officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
