Mrs. Detyens was a daughter of the late William Wilson Brown and Annabelle Davis Brown.

She was a graduate of Memminger High School and a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

She was the widow of Charles Rutledge Detyens and surviving are her two daughters, Sally Detyens Ferrara of Savannah, GA and Faye Detyens NeSmith of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Rachael Detyens Ferrara and Charles Rutledge NeSmith; two sisters, Janie B. Demko of Conway, SC and Betty B. Woods of Charleston; and one brother, Thomas B. Brown of Charleston.
