Francis Alvin Brown, 73, of Charleston, a retired leadingman with the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Sunday at his residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, according to Stuhr's Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Brown was born in Sylva, N.C., a son of Dr. William W. Brown and Annabelle Davis Brown. He was a member of the Orange-Charles Town Lodge and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three sister, Judy B. Detyens of Mount Pleasant and Janie B. Demko and Betty Woods, both of Charleston; a brother, Thomas B. Brown of Charleston; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Worsham of Hanahan and Linda Bodiford of Goose Creek; and two stepsons, Harold Groce of Goose Creek and George Groce of Tampa, Florida.
