William Martin, Jr., affectionately called "Bo", was called to his " Heavenly Home " on February 4, 2000 at his home in Richmond, Virginia. He was born May 8, 1936 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late William Martin Strawn, Sr.and the late Ruth Hairston Strawn. Four sisters and one brother preceded him in death; Mrs. Ruth S. Coleman, Mrs. Caretha S. Witcher, Mrs. Mabel Delois Strawn and Mr. Calbert Carver Strawn.

William graduated from Albert Harris High School in 1955. He later joined the United States Army and became a Military Policeman. He was honorably discharged in 1959. William was a jovial guy. He would frequently call one "kid" during conversations and would always end wirg-- "Who loves you baby?", and he really did. William was affiliated with Mount Zion A.M.E. Church at an early age and sang bass in the choir for many years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Carol Veronica; four sisters, Mrs. Barbara S. Williams of Roosevelt, N. Y. Mrs. Delphine S. Draper, Mrs. Maxine S. Martin and Mrs. Rita S. Agnew, all of Martinsville, Virginia;two brothers, James R. Strawn of Reidsville, North Carolina and Melvin D. Strawn of Martinsville, Virginia; two aunts, Mrs. Mabel D. Hairston and Mrs. Gracie S. Strong of Martinsville, Virginia. William was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Interment was at A & H Cemetery on Second Street in Martinsville, Virginia.
